Obituary For Barbara Tirrell

Barbara Jean Carlson Tirrell

Barbara Jean Carlson Tirrell, 84, of Middleboro, passed away on September 29, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 20, 1940, in Weymouth to the late Helen and Richmand Carlson.

In 1964, Barbara moved to Halifax following her marriage to the late Robert J. Tirrell, where together they raised their family before later residing in Middleboro. She worked in a variety of roles over the years, including with New England Telephone, Sullivan Brothers, Imperial Cabinets, and finally finishing her career at Neet Nails. At each place, she was admired for her dedication, strong work ethic, and the lasting friendships she built along the way.

Barbara’s proudest role, however, was that of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters: Anita Asci and her husband Jeffrey of Plympton; Brenda Hughes and her husband Douglas of Halifax; and Stacy Dupuis of Middleboro. She was blessed with seven grandchildren—Bo, Bree, Paige, Tyler, Makenzie, Bryce, and Christopher—and
six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought endless joy to her life. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Barbara’s life was filled with simple joys. She loved playing cards with her friends, she enjoyed traveling and quiet time with her pets. Barbara also had a sweet
tooth for donuts, one of her favorite little pleasures. More than anything, Barbara loved gathering with her family—sharing stories, celebrating milestones, and
treasuring the everyday moments that meant the most.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her warmth, her humor, her spicy comebacks, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the laughter she shared, the adventures she embraced, and the family she built—a reminder to all of us to treasure time with loved ones and to find joy in the simple things.

Visitation will be held at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA, on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral
services will take place at Halifax Congregational Church on Saturday, October 4, beginning at 10 AM. Following the church service all are welcome to attend a celebration of life at Somewhere Else Tavern, 65 School Street Pembroke.
