My condolences to the family of Mrs. Cushing. I had her as my first grade teacher at Liberty School Braintree, MA in 1974. I will always remember her sweet smile. She always said "two wrongs do not make a right" and I have remembered that all my life and taught it to my own two children. She always had mini pastel marshmallows in a jar on her desk and she always shared them with us. She was such a wonderful lady. I will remember her fondly always. Karin (Ricci) Newman

Barbara was a radiant reflection of her Savior. I will miss her dearly but, I rejoice with her that she is now with Jesus who she walked so closely with and longed to be with. She was a prayer warrior and dear friend to so many. The seeds that she planted in the lives of so many will be watered by the Holy Spirit and bring much fruit to the glory and honor of the Lord. Barbara stored her treasures in heaven to honor her Savior. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before HIm, endured the cross, despising the shame. and is set down at bthe right hand of the throne of God.." Hebrews 12:2

Grandma Barbara was so much more to me than just Grandma. She was also my spiritual mother. She was always there with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and backed up what she said with what she did in that she was always there for me. We shared many conversations about the Bible and Prophecy and she sparked an interest in me of the miracle of the Nation of Israel which ultimately lead me to grasp hold of the faith that she meant to instill in me. I am so thankful to her for that. Her life survives in my heart as a model of kindness and goodness. As I go about my day I catch my self thinking of her often and I know I always will. I miss you Grandma but because of your faith I will someday see you again and I take great comfort in that thought.

"Mrs. Cushing" was my first grade teacher in 1970 at Liberty School in Braintree. Over the years I ran into her at various churches and events. In recent years we attended the same church and I just saw her at a Christmas party. She shared her joy about going to visit her daughter in FL. At coffee hour after church she would sometimes introduce me to her friends and say "I taught this woman in first grade!" She was a dear, sweet lady. I will miss her smile on Sunday mornings. My sincerest condolences to her family.

I thank God for the life and testimony of dear Barbara Cushing /Geary. During my ministry to internationals at Park Street Church they were involved as host family. They hosted ice skating events and home hospitality to groups of overseas students. Their kindness, generosity, and gracious hospitality made lasting impact on many foreigners. They were caring, friendly, and compassionate friends of FOCUS which was enriched by their active participation. May the Lord bless the seed of their Christian testimony to those near and far for eternity. With my sincere sympathy to the extended family, Joe Sabounji

Beautiful Mrs. Cushing taught my three daughters, Christine, Teresa, and Jennifer in first grade at Liberty School in Braintree beginning in 1969. Because of her, they have done well in life. Forty years later I met Mrs. Cushing at Hingham Physical Therapy for many weeks and initially I remembered her and she remembered me and my family, including my son Bobby who was not in her class. She even recalled the yellow paper notepads inscribed with her name that my husband, Bob Ferent, had given her for Christmas one year. Mrs. Cushing was a wonderful person filled with love for everyone. I am sorry for your loss. I am glad she was in Florida with her daughter when she died. I will always remember her kindness and I am glad I met her recently to review old memories. May she rest in peace.

Dear Carol and Cindy, I remember Barbara saying to me that one of her favorite phrases in the bible was "in Christ". She certainly lived her life in Christ and showed the rest of us how to do it too. I am leaving tomorrow morning (Feb. 25) for Florida so I am so sorry that I will miss the services for your mom. I know they will be most joyous, as all who have known and loved Barbara will be rejoicing in her homegoing. But as I looked at her picture on this website, I am thinking of how much we all, especially you and your families are missing her. Not to see Barbara at SSBC and especially at CBS is a new normal we will all have to get used to. May God's love and comfort fill your hearts and lives. Love in Christ, Kathy

My sympathy's and prayers go out to Barbara's daughter and family. Although Barbara had lived such a long life, it still seems too soon. She will be dearly missed. My first interaction with Barbara was March 2011, when my family and I were vacationing in Naples, FL. Like any other day we vacationed in Florida, we spent it at the beach. While there, we walked it, and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. We also made a point to walk along the pier on Naples Beach. On one particular occasion, when we walked along the pier we met Barbara Geary. My Dad and I ordered a hot dog at the snack bar, and tried to find a seat, with none open except next to a dear ederly woman. So, my Dad and I sat down next to her as we ate our hotdogs. While we ate, I happened to pear over at the dear elderly lady next to us, and I noticed that she was reading a 'Daily Bread.' I turned to my Dad and whispered "I think she is reading a Daily Bread." My Dad, being the Baptist Minister that he is, immediately looked to Barbara and asked her "Are you a Christian?" and she replied "Indeed! I am!" And for the next four hours the two of them talked about their lives, trials, and their faith. After our time with her, we walked her, to her car, and I remembered her saying about our time with her, that this was "a divine appointment!" It was a "God-designed" time for four Christians to have met a woman who truly loved the Lord! We will miss you Barbara! We look forward to seeing you again, in Heaven!

I jsut thought about Barbara few weeks ago seeing old photos taken in Boston long time ago. We first met in PSC probably around 1989. I remember she took me to old town (famous, but i do not remember the name, like small Williamstown) suburb of Boston. I also recalled that her husband Don he voluntered tape-ministry for PSC. I have visited her Weymoth house few times during my visit to Boston and we went to Talbots' outlet together. When I heard her remarriage, she looked very happy and she introduced her new husband who did wool business. We slao had intresting layred pasta with spinich filling instead of ground beef near her house. She commented that this is new recipe using vegetables insted of meat, healty. I sent an email to PSC to ask Barbara's update about 2 weeks ago and read responce few days ago in Sydney where I was with the news of her departure. I truly thank you she treated me very nice and I thank you her king hospitality. She will stay in my heart. Thank you Barbara. Love, mami
