Obituary For Anne C. Duffy
Anne C. Duffy, 88, formerly of Rockland, Hingham, and South Boston joined her beloved husband Dan on April 29th in Castle Rock, CO following a lengthy illness.
She was born the youngest of eight children to Frederick and Josephine Linskey in Holbrook on April 27, 1926. She was raised and educated in Dorchester and South Boston where she met and married Daniel E. Duffy, the love of her life. Together they had five children: Daniel Jr. (Momence, IL), Brian (Jan, Houston, TX), Dianne Svoboda (Mike, Newburyport, MA), Claire Morgan (Andy, Colorado Springs, CO), and Timothy (Kim, Duxbury, MA).
More than anything, Anne's life revolved around her children, family, and friends. She provided an individual and special love for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to join in family gatherings to stay connected with her large extended family. And she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of a cribbage game, the pull of a slot handle, and the chance to play BINGO with friends.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. in Rockland from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday May 5, 2014 . A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street Rockland, MA on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 9:00am. Donations in her memory can be made to the Good Shepherd Manor, PO Box 260, Momence, Illinois 60954.

Somerset Maugham wrote " If a rose at noon has lost the beauty that it had at dawn then the beauty it had was real. Nothing in this life lasts forever and we are foolish if we think that it can but we are even more foolish if we do not take delight in it while we have it. " Both Pam and I are sure that you all took delight in calling her Mom. We are both saddened with the passing of Our Lady you are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of loss.

My heart is heavy for you all. She was without a doubt one of the most remarkable people I have ever had the privilege to know. Often I have thought of how much my mom valued her friendship. She was one of very few woman my mother called friend. Please my prayers are with each and every one of you. May the angels sing as Dan & Anne are reunited again. Always together watching over their blessing still on earth. Love to you all. Denise (Carter) Cowing

It was so wonderful to be able to spend time with your Mom at Andy's retirement. There are so many happy memories that come to mind when I think back to the days on Howard Street. She was always so warm to all of us. God bless all of you as you navigate through these next few days, weeks and months without your Mom. She is at peace and reunited with your Dad. Wishing you all peace. Much love,

Danny, Brian, Di, Claire and Tim, Know that I am thinking about ya’ll at this trying time. I always enjoyed talking to Aunt Anne over the telephone. With my southern accent and her northern accent, it would take us a few minutes to understand each other. However, whenever I would call, she knew who it was right away - somehow. You certainly have quite a family heritage to be proud of through the Duffys and the Linskeys â€" and you have added to it. When I think of my Boston aunts and uncles, I still can see the twinkle in my father’s eye when he would speak of his sisters and brothers. Some of our fondest memories are of visiting with you on our family vacations. Your Linskey cousins from Mississippi - Georgia, Judy, Mildred and I - are grieving and celebrating with you. Your cousin and son of Fred Linskey - Andy

It is so hard to think of what to say when a part of your childhood is gone. Your mom had a great smile and I always enjoyed running into her when I visited my mom. I wish I was able to see you all. Know that my thoughts and prayers were with you that day and that I am still thinking of you. Warmest regards
