Obituary For Allan L. Tweed

Allan L. Tweed 81, of Rockland, died on December 11, 2019 in The Briarwood Rehabilitation Center in Needham after a period of failing health. Allan was born in Boston, son of the late Carlton and Evelyn (Freeman) Tweed. He was raised and educated in Rockland, graduating from Rockland High School in 1957. Allan worked for Rockland Public Schools for over 30 years. He retired as the Head Custodian in 1997. Allan was a sports fan, he especially enjoyed following the Patriots. He loved animals and he took in and cared for many through his life. At one time he and his wife cared for 8 cats at once. He enjoyed camping, playing cards with friends and Cape Cod Canal bike rides with his beloved late wife, Jeanne A. (Reagan) Tweed. Allan is survived by his sister Carol Gorrill and her husband David of Wells, ME, and Carl Tweed and his wife Evelyn of Hanover. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Allan's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life in The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in The Colebrook Cemetery in Whitman. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hilltop Humane Society who have taken in many of Allan and Jeanne's cats and many more.     Sorry to hear this. I went to Esten in the 70's when he was a custodian there. Always liked him. Later I worked with him in the 80's when i took a summer job with the school department. Most fun on a job ever with him and Dickie Walls. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in piece, my old friend.

    Mr. Tweed was a friendly kind man. Our memory of his help and care at our time in Esten School was of a hard working, quiet, gentle person. Our sincere condolences to his family. The Mellor Family
