I have great memories of school and football with Alec. He, Tommy and I were tri captains on the varsity team in 1983. We had years of fun playing ball together, and he was a tough player who could be depended on when we really needed a lift. I don't ever remember him without a smile on his face, and he laughed so easily. I think he was the Class of 84 version of Ferris Bueller; he was friends with everyone. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alec's family. Ken and Sue Bradbury Apex, North Carolina

I just recently found out about Alec's passing. My heart goes out to his wife and family. I used to go with my Dad to watch him play football. Uncle Alec would go on and on about him , how many touch downs he had , how many passes he had completed, I was in awe of him and wanted my Dad to be as proud of me as his was of him. Even though I was younger, Alec would take time to throw the ball around with me after the game. As a kid I looked up to him and always thought he was really cool. My deepest condolences

It is with great sympathy to the Coulstring family and friends at Triangle Engineering that I offer my condolences. Alec was a good man, and a man's man who lived a free and enviable lifestyle to fish, to ski, and do as he pleased. He worked hard and lived hard. You knew where you stood with Alec because he could dish it out--and he could take it! God bless you Alec. ..."Hey Al! A ham sandwich walks into a bar"...I'll be looking for you when our paths cross again someday, and I'll give you the punch line then. Gonna miss ya! Dave from Yellow

I am so sorry for your loss and ours. I went to school with Alec and then moved to Florida for 13 years he was one of the first people I ran into when I moved back home at JJ's. I would run into Alec every once in a while and it was always a joke between us. My heart is heavy with sadness. He will be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of having a laugh with him.

  • 05/25/2021

Alec was always the life of the party. I will always remember the Six Flags impersonations he did and full splits on the dancefloor. But most of all the conversations... where we solved the problems of the world..or at least our world after 20 or so games of tic tac toe with rocks & sticks out at the firepit. A friend truly missed. This will take some time.

  • 05/25/2021

I love you Alec and will miss you forever...you will always be in my heart. You were the best friend to me that I could have ever asked for and I am eternally greatful to you! So many good times with you, always laughing and the best hugs ever! Until we meet again my friend~

  • 05/25/2021

To the Coulstring family and close friends: I am at once shocked, and so saddened, and very sorry to hear about Alec's passing. I'll particularly remember Alec as being part of the "Russell Lane contigent" of friends I had just up the road from where I grew up on Summit Road. Always had a lot of fun with Alec. He was always smiling and many times broght me to tears laughing hysterically. His zest for life and good-natured, out going personality is what I'll always remember. Rest in Peace Alec.
