Horkey( as we knew him for so many years ) was a great friend, whom we came to know & love over the years. We looked foward to his coming each fall for deer season and enjoyed attending the annual deer hunters supper together. I have no doubt that my Dad & Al are reminicsing about their hunts together and other good times we all had. No doubt, Al made the world a better place as evidenced by the tributes paid to him by old friends and former students. We shall all miss him.

I couldn't have asked for a better or more patient, for that matter, teacher, than Mr. Horkey. Although, I haven't had contact with you in a long time, you've always been a person that I remember with fondness. Mr. Horkey, you were able to use humor to get a point across to a stubborn student and for that and many more small things, I thank you and know that you are in a special part of heaven. Thanks again. To your family my deepest sympathies and prayers.
