Sally was the beloved wife of A. Scott MacKinlay for 64 years and loving mother to Lisa Byrne and her husband Walter of Rockland, Glenn MacKinlay and his wife Cynthia of Norwell, and Jill Matson and her husband John of Rockland. Dear sister of Robert Walker of Montague and her twin Diane Porter of Braintree. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Walker.

She was the cherished grandmother to 9 grandchildren: Kaitlin Healy, Kristina Healy, Lisa Daniels, Brian Byrne, Andrew MacKinlay, Meredith MacKinlay, Harrison MacKinlay, Julia Matson and Lily Matson and one great grandchild Charlotte Daniels. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sally worked at Rockland Trust Company and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She volunteered for Standish Humane Society in Duxbury for many years and fostered cats and kittens. Sally was an avid quilter, a love she shared with her brother, sister and grandchildren. She created true works of art. Sally also enjoyed gardening and nurtured thriving lily and perennial gardens over the years.

Her family was the love of her life. Whether attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, gathering by the pool for celebrations or taking all seventeen family members on a Bermuda cruise for her 50th wedding anniversary or to Disneyworld, she thrived in the company of her children and grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 1st from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA. Dear MacKinlay family, In 1967, a group of young teenagers was sent to live in their new family home on Phillips Street. Our parents were to follow a week later with the rest of the Botelho kids. Our flight was in the afternoon, and we arrived in the early evening to our new house. It was a little nerve wracking to be in this big house in a new place we knew little about.with. But who should show up to calm our nerves but our new neighbors, Scott and Sally MacKinlay. He told us all about the high school and she told us all about how wonderful it was to live in Rockland. The thing I remember most about Mrs. MacKinlay was her beautiful smile. That combined with her gracious nature and lovely laugh certainly put my mind at ease. Through the years Mrs. MacKinlay was a wonderful neighbor to our whole family, especially to my mom. I know that Mrs. MacKinlay is now with our Lord, and I am very sure my mother greeted her with open arms as she walked through God's Gate. May God bless and comfort you in your loss. You now have a very special angel watching over all of you. My deepest sympathy, Franny (Botelho) Taylor

Dear Mr. MacKinlay, Lisa, Glen, Jill and Family, I'm not sure how best to begin in a manner that will truly convey my deep sorrow at the passing of Mrs. MacKinlay. Having moved next door in 1967, the Mackinlay's were a young family who were so kind to this group of 11 kids from Georgia. Lisa and I became fast friends and along with my sister Bea, the Taft sisters, Sharon, Maura and Christie, we spent countless hours performing plays, playing dress up, playing with the bunny, or Pogo, you name it, we did it. Mrs. MacKinlay was always so loving, sweet and kind. Most of my childhood memories include being there and her warmth toward all of us "girls". To all of you, especially Mr. MacKinlay, I send my deep love, affection and sympathy. You were truly blessed with a great Mom/ wife. May God keep you all in his care as she now rests in his arms. Much love, Kathy

I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Mackinlay for over 50 years. She was the such a lovely and gracious woman. The countless hours that me and Lisa's other friends spent at that house will be remembered forever. How she put up with all that giggling i will never know. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you all. Sharon Hill

Scott and your whole wonderful family, I am so very sorry. Life goes by like summer vacation, and I have memories of how selfless Sally was in countless ways. It was more than 50 years ago when you and Sally had a Christmas get together at the house for the RHS basketball team. I think that's my favorite. She was just such a warmhearted, supportive person. My thoughts are with you all. -Minooch
