Obituary For Janet Petrosevich

Janet Petrosevich passed unexpectedly in her home on February 28, 2022. Born on February 24, 1958, daughter of the late Marjorie and Charles Mitchell of Rockland. She was the loving wife of Michael Petrosevich, of Rockland, for 43 blissful years. She leaves behind sons Michael Petrosevich Jr and wife Jennifer, Mark Petrosevich, Paul Petrosevich, daughter Michelle and her husband Austin Pina. Stand-in mother to niece and nephew, Ashley and Mathew Veiga. Janet was the proud grandmother of Joseph and Gemma Petrosevich who were the highlight of her life. She was the loving sister of Charles Mitchell, Steve and Theresa Mitchell, Robert and Kathy Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Johnny Mitchell and late wife Deborah, Michelle Mitchell, and the late Marjorie Cronin and Mary Reardon who are welcoming her with open arms. She had a special place in her heart for her many nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws.

Janet graduated Rockland High School in 1976 where she was a cheerleader and member of the National honor society. After spending a year in Florida with brother Johnny and best friend Jean Connors, she came back home briefly, and while considering a move back, fate stepped in when she met her husband and they built their beautiful life in Rockland.

Janet spent 30 years as a bartender at the Ground Round Norwell, ending her career at Players Rockland where she became a staple in so many peoples lives, always lending an ear when needed and sharing her infectious laugh.
Being a caring, supportive mother was her most beloved job and in that role, she overachieved.

The past years have been beautifully spent vacationing with Mike in their favorite places, Aruba and Newport RI. Always surrounded by friends and family while hosting at their home. She loved baking desserts with her granddaughter and making sure her grandson was always well fed with his favorite snacks.

Her most favorite days were spent with various family members taking trips to the casino where she always seemed to come home a winner. Always looking forward to adventures with Jean and nights out with their girl squad. Janet was an incredible friend to many and only had kindness in her heart.

To say Janet will be deeply missed would be a complete understatement but her memory will live on strong in the hearts of so many people.

Janet’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland MA 02370 on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Janet will truly be missed by all who knew her. I can remember going to the family home with Margie when we were friends at Holy Family. I was struck by how beautiful and kind Janet was- even to her siblings!! Over the years it was always a treat to hang out with Janet in good times and bad and she never changed. She was still that same selfless, cheerful person. She will be missed by so many as she goes to join many other missed loved ones. Love and prayers to all her family- Kathy White

I remember Janet ironing her clothes each morning before going to school(RHS). I remember her writing a term paper the morning when the paper was due the same day. She got an A for that paper. She was very smart. I remember I had just turned 13 and she helped me by informing me how to deal with "monthlies", what to use and how to use the. I also remember that Janet and Jeannie Connors took myself and Margie to J.J. Pubs to be served liquor for the first time. Polyester pant suits were being worn!! I'm not asking God why he took Janet so early. I'm thanking Him to put such a great person in my life, when I needed her most. So sorry for your loss Mike and your family.

Dear Petrosevich and Mitchell families, I am so very sorry and how my heart breaks learning of the loss of such a kind- beautiful person as Janet, I send my love, prayers and condolences to you all. I met Janet at her childhood home on Myrtle Street through my best friend Margie (God rest her soul) in 1968-69. I always looked up to Janet so dearly and have so many fond memories with her. We had such fun playing bumper pool, dancing in the living room, swimming, cookouts and just talking with Janet, Margie & family. Janet had the biggest heart because it was always growing to make room for a new family member or another friend. She was so kind and loving and I always saw her with her beautiful smile and twinkle in her eyes. Janet was always so kind to me and she made a positive-loving impact on my life and will always be in my heart. Although I have tears in my eyes, I know you are Resting in the Lord's arms. I pray the Lord blesses, comforts & strengthens you all through such an aweful loss. I love you Janet❤ Elena Rogers
